Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Central

Central waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Florence Falcons as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Chloe May was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Benson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Lillian Moore was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Central pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Florence, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Central will face off against Wilson at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Florence, they will challenge Colbert Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
