Baseball Recap: Dora Takes a Loss

Dora extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 11-13. They came up short against the Fultondale Wildcats, falling 17-7. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Gavin Thompson led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Dora: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Stephenson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Fultondale, they moved to 10-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

On Fultondale's side, Brody Mathis was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Mathis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Fultondale got a massive performance out of Austin Rogers, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Ross Christy was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

While Dora had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
