If Fairmont Senior wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Buckhannon-Upshur, they should've done a better job of containing Alyssa Abel. Everything went the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers' way against the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears on Wednesday as the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers made off with a 46-23 win thanks in part to Abel, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (four).

Harley Dean was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. Buckhannon-Upshur is 2-1 when Dean posts ten or more rebounds, but 6-8 otherwise.

Buckhannon-Upshur's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Fairmont Senior, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buckhannon-Upshur will face off against Parkersburg South at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fairmont Senior, they will challenge Spring Mills at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Spring Mills knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Fairmont Senior likes a good challenge.
