Baseball Recap: Florida State University High School Comes Up Short

Florida State University High School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Niceville Eagles.

Florida State University High School got a good showing from Brayden Wood, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wood has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Nile Burke and Cohen Tigerina stepped up to the plate in a big way. Burke scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Tigerina scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Florida State University High School's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Niceville, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Florida State University High School will square off against North Florida Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Niceville, they are taking a road trip to take on Chiles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Niceville's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Chiles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
