Basketball Recap: Owyhee Finds Playoff Glory Versus Coeur D'alene

Owyhee had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Coeur d'Alene Vikings on Friday, sneaking past 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Storm have posted since February 7, 2024.

Owyhee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josie Davis, who went 7-for-13 en route to 20 points and five steals. Those 20 points gave Davis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Beck, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 16 points and seven boards.

Despite the loss, Coeur d'Alene saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brookeslee Colvin went 11-for-16 on her way to 36 points and three steals. Colvin's big performance that afternoon made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Semprimoznik, who posted 14 points.

Owyhee is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-2 record this season. With the defeat, Coeur d'Alene broke their 11-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-8.

Owyhee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-33 victory against Boise on the 22nd. Coeur d'Alene does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
