Basketball Game Preview: Laurel Golden Tornadoes vs. Quitman Panthers + Official Tickets

The Laurel Golden Tornadoes will venture away from home to square off against the Quitman Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Quitman likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Laurel blew past Meridian, posting a 57-15 victory. Given the Golden Tornadoes' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Wildcats are ranked 59th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Quitman has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 52-42 to Heidelberg on Tuesday.

Laurel will need to focus on slowing down RODRIA LAPHAND, one of several Quitman players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of KA'LEY MOODY, who put up 11 points.

Laurel's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Quitman, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Laurel was able to grind out a solid victory over Quitman in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 50-40. Will the Golden Tornadoes repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
