Midlothian is a perfect 5-0 against Cleburne since November of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

Midlothian fought the good fight in their overtime game against Joshua on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Owls by a score of 23-21. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite their loss, Midlothian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brendyn Jackson, who picked up 50 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, was perhaps the best of all.

Meanwhile, Cleburne didn't have quite enough to beat Centennial on Friday and fell 16-14. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost seven in a row.

Cleburne didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of JJ Navarrette and Cordae Simmons. Cleburne got some further help from Stephen Anderson: he made 14 total tackles.

Midlothian's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Cleburne, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Midlothian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 225 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cleburne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 160.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Midlothian strolled past Cleburne when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 28-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
