Baseball Game Preview: Grenada Chargers vs. Saltillo Tigers

For the second straight game, Grenada will face off against Saltillo. The Chargers will challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Grenada 3.9, Saltillo 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Grenada is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Saltillo on Tuesday. They fell 7-2 to the Tigers.

For Saltillo's part, JORDAN EVERS spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on JACK ADAMS, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of COOPER BURLESON, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Saltillo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grenada only posted an OBP of .276.

The victory was the 18th in a row for Saltillo, bringing their record up to 19-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Grenada, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Grenada has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Saltillo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts.
