Baseball Game Preview: Augusta Panthers vs. Pendleton County Wildcats

The Augusta Panthers will challenge the Pendleton County Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Augusta is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Bishop Brossart just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 12-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Ten must be Pendleton County's lucky number: they beat Bracken County with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Wildcats didn't even let the Polar Bears on the board, marking the Wildcats' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Polar Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Augusta's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Pendleton County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6-1.

Augusta beat Pendleton County 7-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
