Baseball Recap: Rye Find Success

Rye won the last time they faced Hoehne and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Thunderbolts walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Farmers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderbolts.

Axton Erlich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 13 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Rye's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 3-13 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Branson Burbidge, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kam Arnold, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Rye's record is now 5-14. As for Hoehne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Rye didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-1 loss against Crowley County on the 1st. As for Hoehne, they will welcome Sanford at 4:30 p.m. on the 8th. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Farmers surely won't give up without a fight.
