Basketball Recap: Sound Christian Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against Pope John Paul II last Monday, Sound Christian came back down to earth. The Sound Christian Lions fell just short of the Auburn Adventist Falcons by a score of 49-46 on Wednesday. The loss put an end to the Lions' undefeated start to the season.

Sound Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Kaila Brogan and Abby Mesler. Brogan dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards, while Mesler posted 25 points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Brogan a new career-high in rebounds.

Sound Christian's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-1. As for Auburn Adventist, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.

Sound Christian will be playing at home against Orcas Island at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Sound Christian's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Orcas Island has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Auburn Adventist, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-43 loss against Taholah on the 9th.
