Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Skates Past River Mill with Ease

Cornerstone Charter won the last time they faced River Mill and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Cardinals simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Jaguars 67-37. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cardinals had established a 21-point advantage.

Leading Cornerstone Charter to victory were Jackson Shaffrey and Lake Bristol. Shaffrey dropped a double-double with 20 points and 25 boards, while Bristol went 8-for-15 to rack up 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Bristol has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Walker, who had 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Woods, who earned ten points. David Wood was another key player, putting up nine points.

Cornerstone Charter now has a winning record of 2-1. As for River Mill, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Cornerstone Charter is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Clover Garden School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for River Mill, they will welcome Discovery Charter School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
