Basketball Recap: Morningside Academy Takes a Loss

After soaring to 55 points the game before, Morningside Academy was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They were dealt a 51-20 defeat at the hands of the Vero Beach Indians. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-9.

Vero Beach's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ekklesia Anderson, who posted 20 points and four steals. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Jazmyn Morris was another key player, putting up seven points along with 15 rebounds and six steals.

Morningside Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Vero Beach, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.

Morningside Academy will square off against Odyssey Charter School at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Vero Beach, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-45 defeat against Cocoa on the 7th.
