Basketball Recap: Bowen Piles Up the Points Against Beardstown

Bowen saw some tournament action on Friday. They claimed a resounding 75-43 win over the Beardstown Tigers. The Boilermakers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Bowen's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Carter, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards. Those eight assists gave Carter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rae'Qwon Rogers, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 17 points.

Bowen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Bowen's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Beardstown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Bowen will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on DuSable at 4:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Bowen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season.
