Softball Recap: Teurlings Catholic Comes Up Short

Teurlings Catholic started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Iota. They came up short against the Iota Bulldogs on Saturday, falling 12-2. If the Rebels were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to them when the teams met back in February of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mia Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she's launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kylie Boutte, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Teurlings Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Iota, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Teurlings Catholic will welcome New Iberia at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Teurlings Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Iota, they are taking a road trip to take on Alexandria at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Iota's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
