Softball Recap: Rifle Bears vs. Meeker Cowboys

Rifle posted their closest win since October 6, 2023 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Meeker Cowboys. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Brynn Axelson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in August. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

In other batting news, Aaliyah Mangnall was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

The win got Rifle back to even at 7-7. As for Meeker, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Rifle will play host again on Tuesday to welcome Eagle Valley, where first pitch is scheduled at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Eagle Valley's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Meeker, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Cedaredge at 11:00 a.m. Cedaredge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.5 runs per game this season.
