West Elk hasn't had much luck on the road recently (they'd lost five straight) but thanks in part to Maddex Moreno that streak is no more. The West Elk Patriots took down the South Haven Cardinals 65-48 on Friday thanks in part to Moreno, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 25 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.
Peyton Fechter was another key player, putting up 11 points. Those 11 points gave him a new career-high.
West Elk's record is now 3-5. As for South Haven, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
West Elk won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Caldwell at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for South Haven, they will take on Flinthills on Monday.
