Softball Preview: Mission Hills Grizzlies vs. Del Norte Nighthawks
Mission Hills hasn't had much luck against Del Norte recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Grizzlies will head out to face off against the Nighthawks at 6:30 p.m. Mission Hills' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Del Norte's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Mission Hills made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mater Dei Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Del Norte unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak last Friday. They fell just short of Poway by a score of 4-3.
Alexis Kyles made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Carissa Camaclang, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 10-7-1. As for Mission Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Mission Hills couldn't quite get it done against Del Norte in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
