Cherokee Trail made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 211 from 327. The improvement was the result of a 27-14 victory over Cherry Creek last week.
Grandview fell 13-9 to ThunderRidge in the closest game of the week. Chukwuma Obinnah ran for 130 yards in the loss.
Grandview's dynamic duo of Tyler Smith and Frank Solomon proved tough for the Grizzlies to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith threw for 92 yards and 1 touchdown and Solomon had 83 yards receiving.
Nick Ferguson made the biggest impact on defense this week as John Schultz's team lost to ThunderRidge. The 5-foot-10 defensive end racked up 1 sack.
Leading 5A Centennial in both passing and receiving yards, Overland's Austin Conway and Khalil Jenkins have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Conway has thrown for 1,847 yards this season, while Jenkins has 42 catches for 778 yards. Cameron Smith from the Cougars leads the league in rushing with 1,554 yards.
So far this year, Cameron Brucker has thrown for 1,802 yards with 16 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
Nathan Starks broke off the longest rushing play in the league this week with a 68-yard run against Cherokee Trail. Starks finished the game with 80 yards on the ground as the Bruins lost to Monte Thelen's team.
