Football Recap: Haines City Hornets vs. Zephyrhills Christian Academy Warriors

Haines City's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Zephyrhills Christian Academy Warriors as the Haines City Hornets made off with a 35-12 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hornets needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Kamari Smith had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.

Smith wasn't the only one working in the rushing yards department: Haines City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zephyrhills Christian Academy only rushed for 20.

Gavin Davis and Kahlid Cambell certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Davis picked up 89 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Cambell picked up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown. Cambell got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of80 yards.

The win got Haines City back to even at 1-1.

Haines City will challenge Lake Gibson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Haines City will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. As for Zephyrhills Christian Academy, they will take on Discovery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
