Baseball Recap: Von Steuben Victorious

Von Steuben came out on top against Jones on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eagles 7-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 back in April.

The team relied heavily on Matteo Banuelos, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Von Steuben is undefeated when Banuelos posts two or more runs, but 11-13-3 otherwise.

The victory made it two in a row for Von Steuben and bumps their season record up to 17-13-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Jones, their loss dropped their record down to 14-17.

Looking ahead, Von Steuben will face off against Northside at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jones, they will take on Lincoln Park at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
