Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Templeton

Templeton came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Tulare Western Mustangs by a score of 5-2.

Templeton got a great performance from Tegan Jay as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Jay has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Marquart was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Morris, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Templeton's record is now 11-6. As for Tulare Western, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-4-1 record.

Looking ahead, Templeton will challenge Coalinga at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Horned Toads' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tulare Western, they will face off against Shafter at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Generals have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
