The Arroyo Knights will take on the Marshall Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Arroyo nor Rosemead made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Knights fell 3-0 to the Panthers. The game marked the first time this year in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

Noah Fonseca was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Marshall ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against South El Monte by a score of 8-5.
Caleb Thatcher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Thatcher was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trevor Lain, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Adan Castro was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Marshall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Marshall has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Arroyo, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Arroyo has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Marshall struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Arroyo came up short against Marshall in their previous matchup back in April, falling 9-6. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
