Baseball Recap: Windermere Extends Winning Streak to Two

Windermere won against Atlantic Coast on Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Windermere didn't even let Atlantic Coast on the board, marking Windermere's second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Wolverines have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Mic Streibig looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Windermere let Diego Rodriguez and Sebastian Vargas run wild. Rodriguez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Vargas scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave Vargas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Randy Ruiz, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Windermere and bumps their season record up to 15-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Atlantic Coast, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Windermere and Atlantic Coast should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Windermere will square off against Harmony at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 37 places (8 vs. 45). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Windermere 2.5, Harmony 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Atlantic Coast (ranked 179th) will meet Bishop Kenny (ranked 429th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Atlantic Coast's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Bishop Kenny has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
