Preview: St. James Tigers vs. Owensville Dutchmen

The St. James Tigers will square off against the Owensville Dutchmen at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Owensville took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on St. James, who comes in off a win.

Last Saturday, St. James earned a 6-1 victory over New Haven. The win was just what St. James needed coming off of a 10-4 defeat in their prior game.

James Perkins was excellent, going 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Sandstrom, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Owensville fell victim to a rough 13-3 loss at the hands of Rolla on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Owensville in their matchups with Rolla: they've now lost seven in a row.

Owensville saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Ely, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Ely is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

The victory got St. James back to even at 1-1. As for Owensville, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

St. James skirted past Owensville 6-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Owensville's JJ Brown, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk).
