Baseball Recap: Ashland Hornets vs. Fort Fairfield Tigers
Ashland had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-4 to make it seven. They lost 12-1 to the Fort Fairfield Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 16-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.
As for Fort Fairfield, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.5 runs this season.
For Fort Fairfield's part, Cayden Ala made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Ala has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.
