Softball Recap: Charleston Takes a Loss

Charleston and Mt. Zion pushed the score to 13-10 the last time they played Mt. Zion, but on Saturday defenses reigned supreme. The Trojans fell just short of the Braves by a score of 1-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Trojans were not able to get on the board.

Charleston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Shrader, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Shrader has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Charleston has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. As for Mt. Zion, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Charleston beat the Braves by a score of 7-6 later that day.
