Baseball Preview: Eagle Valley Devils vs. Holy Family Tigers

The Eagle Valley Devils will head out to take on the Holy Family Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 11 losses in a row dating back to last season, Eagle Valley turned things around against Alamosa on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 14-5 margin over the Mean Moose. The Devils not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15, 2024.

James Bivins made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Adams, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Xander DeHerrera, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Holy Family waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 8-5.

Holy Family also got a great performance from Brendan Ward as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. Ward has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Isaiah Sandoval was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Dustin Bennett also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Holy Family pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Eagle Valley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
