Basketball Recap: Paisy Perkins Key Part of a Team Effort in Huskies Win

Horizon won the last time they faced Buckeye and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Horizon Huskies walked away with a 42-29 win over the Buckeye Hawks.

Horizon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Paisy Perkins led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 17 boards. Perkins has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Frazier, who posted four points in addition to nine rebounds and five steals.

Horizon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 14 consecutive contests.

Buckeye lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tia Chapman, who had eight points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Amayah Leyva, who put up 11 points and four steals.

Horizon's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. As for Buckeye, they moved to 9-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Horizon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-24 win against Mountain Pointe on the 9th. As for Buckeye, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 56-32 victory against Desert Edge on the 9th.
