League recap: Longoria breaks off league-leading run for Carrizo Springs

3A Region IV District 29 recap September 4, 2013

Carrizo Springs's Freddie Longoria recorded the longest rushing play in 3A Region IV District 29 this season in his game against Cotulla last week. Longoria ran for 60 yards on the play and finished with 234 on the day as his team topped the Cowboys.

Hondo scaled the state rankings by moving to 552 from 664 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Owls were able to make move up by defeating Boerne 42-21.

Longoria was the most successful running back in the league this week. Domingo Lumbreras also contributed to the rushing game with 37 yards on the ground.

Angel Angel Gonzalez was the best wideout in 3A Region IV District 29 this week as Carrizo Springs bested Cotulla. Angel Gonzalez tallied 2 receptions for 91 yards. Ray Salazar helped Carrizo Springs' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 39 yards.

Longoria was a beast in the backfield as the Wildcats topped the Cowboys.

Longoria provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Carrizo Springs beat Cotulla.

Eric Trogden put up the best numbers in passing as Devine beat Southside. He finished with 8 completions for 185 yards. Trogden's favorite target this week was Cody Trivino, who caught 2 passes for 83 yards.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Angel Gonzalez. The Carrizo Springs star has 2 catches for 91 yards.

Lytle was the team made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from third to first in the league. The Pirates defeated Poteet 53-14 earlier in the week.
