Baseball Game Preview: St. John Lutheran Saints vs. Halifax Academy Knights

After both having extra time off, the St. John Lutheran Saints and the Halifax Academy Knights will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.

St. John Lutheran made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wildwood, but they still couldn't quite topple them. St. John Lutheran blew past Wildwood 9-1 last Tuesday. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Adam Stillwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luis Roman, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Gloege, who scored a run and stole five bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

St. John Lutheran lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Halifax Academy came up short against Crescent City last Tuesday, falling 17-1.

St. John Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. Halifax Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went St. John Lutheran's way against Halifax Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as St. John Lutheran made off with a 29-0 victory.
