Basketball Recap: Socorro Takes a Loss

Socorro played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Cobre Indians and fell 70-35. The Warriors were down 49-21 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Cobre got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zavin Guck out in front who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. Guck is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Izon Guck was another key player, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds.

Socorro has been struggling recently as they've lost 16 of their last 18 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-20 record this season. The victory (which was Cobre's third in a row) raised their record to 16-10.

While Socorro had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
