Baseball Recap: Seven Straight Home Wins for Santa Fe Trail

Santa Fe Trail won the last time they faced Wellsville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chargers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Hunter French spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Santa Fe Trail is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alex Strother, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Santa Fe Trail pushed their record up to 9-11 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Wellsville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Fe Trail will challenge Eudora on Thursday. As for Wellsville, they will be playing at home against Baldwin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
