Softball Game Preview: Rochelle Hubs vs. Dixon Dukes & Duchesses

The Rochelle Hubs will face off against the Dixon Dukes & Duchesses at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Rochelle got the win against Ashton-Franklin Center by a conclusive 17-9. The victory continues a trend for the Hubs in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dixon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Winnebago. The victory was some much needed relief for the Dukes & Duchesses as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Allie Abell made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Delaney Bruce and Bailey Tegeler did most of the damage at the plate: Bruce got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Tegeler went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Bruce a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Breanna Tegeler, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run.

Dixon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Rochelle's win bumped their record up to 9-19. As for Dixon, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
