Basketball Recap: Cheraw's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cheraw hadn't done well against West Florence recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Cheraw Braves managed a 35-30 victory over the West Florence Knights. The win was familiar territory for the Braves who have now won three contests in a row.

Cheraw's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cherita Burns, who posted eight points in addition to six steals and five assists. Another player making a difference was Jaleah Faulkner, who had 13 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Burns wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Cheraw was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Florence only posted five assists.

When it comes to explaining why West Florence lost, don't look at Kaylin Davis. Despite the final result, she put up nine points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zofia Wierzbicki, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Cheraw is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for West Florence, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Cheraw wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-49 defeat against Hartsville on the 23rd. As for West Florence, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-3 win against Central on the 23rd.
