Softball Recap: Reading Comes Up Short

After flying high against Concord on Saturday, Reading came back down to earth. The Rangers took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Quincy Orioles on Tuesday. The Rangers haven't had much luck with the Orioles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Ariana McDowell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Reading's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Quincy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Orioles beat Reading by a score of 13-6 on Friday.
