Basketball Recap: Creek Valley Comes Up Short

Creek Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Bayard Tigers and fell 48-8. The Storm lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 78-13 score last time.

Creek Valley used a three-pronged attack on offense: Ava Fraass, Catherine Tilghman, and Airvee Bauer posted two points each. Tilghman also led the team in rebounds with 15.

Leading Bayard to victory were Shelbie Mckibbin and Emilee Houchin. Mckibbin went 8 of 14 en route to 19 points along with eight boards and seven steals, while Houchin dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals. The dominant performance gave Mckibbin a new career-high in points. Shayleigh West was another key player, putting up four points along with six boards and three steals.

Creek Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Bayard, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Creek Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 41-14 loss against Potter-Dix on the 13th. As for Bayard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-16 win against Banner County on the 13th.
