The Vallivue Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Ridgevue, falling 61-32. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Vallivue in their matchups with the Warhawks: they've now lost four in a row.
Vallivue's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Upson, who scored eight points along with two blocks. It was the first time this season that Upson posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa Carrera, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Vallivue struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ridgevue pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
Hollund Miller had a dynamite game for Ridgevue, scoring 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Miller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Myra Martinez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Vallivue dropped their record down to 3-13 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.0 points per game. As for Ridgevue, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vallivue will take on the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Skyview has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. As for Ridgevue, they will be playing at home against the Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
