Bonita Vista came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 66-50 victory over the Otay Ranch Mustangs. Given the Barons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Mustangs are ranked 757th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Aaron Owens, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 24 points and seven boards. Isaiah Diaz was another key player, going 5 for 7 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Despite the loss, Otay Ranch still got an impressive performance from Johann Omae, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points. Nyziah Williams also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Bonita Vista has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Otay Ranch, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-17.
