Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Comes Up Short

St. Joseph Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the First Coast Christian Knights and fell 49-22. The matchup marked the Flashes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

St. Joseph Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeahnna Williams, who posted nine points. That's the most points Williams has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Burnett, who earned six points.

Skylar Hudson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for First Coast Christian, putting up 29 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hudson has scored at least a third of First Coast Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Pickard, who had nine points.

St. Joseph Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for First Coast Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

St. Joseph Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 33-7 loss against Oak Hall on the 7th. As for First Coast Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-21 defeat against Covenant School of Jacksonville on the 10th.
