If St. Mary wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cardinal Spellman, they should've done a better job of containing Lily Carey. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Spartans on Tuesday thanks in part to Carey, who had ten digs and three aces. She has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last seven times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, don't look at Vanessa Magloire. Despite the final result, she had 25 digs and four aces. Gabriella Lorenzini also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Cardinal Spellman and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for St. Mary's, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
