Softball Recap: Excelsior Charter Wins Going Away Against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy

While Excelsior Charter put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy. The Eagles blew past Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy 10-0. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Rylie Hunsaker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Tristen Gonzalez was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. April Corradino was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Excelsior Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy only posted an OBP of .333.

Excelsior Charter has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Excelsior Charter will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
