Recap: Martinsville Bluestreaks vs. Lawrenceville Indians

This season hasn't been kind to the Martinsville Bluestreaks, who are still winless after their 12th contest. They took a serious blow against Lawrenceville on Wednesday, falling 57-21. Martinsville lost against Lawrenceville in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-16 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lawrenceville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addeline Sanders, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Kenidee Boldt was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.

Martinsville bumped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lawrenceville, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martinsville will take on Dugger Union on Saturday. Hopefully Dugger Union focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. Lawrenceville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Newton at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. Newton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lawrenceville in Illinois (Newton is ranked 200th, while Lawrenceville is ranked 529th).
