Softball Game Preview: St. Francis Mariners vs. Catholic Central Hilltoppers

St. Francis is 0-3 against Catholic Central since May of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Mariners will host the Hilltoppers at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

St. Francis is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 21 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Brookfield Academy on Tuesday. They came up short against the Blue Knights, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, Catholic Central lost 11-5 to Racine Case on Tuesday.

Catholic Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Molly Brauer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Catholic Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

St. Francis couldn't quite get it done against Catholic Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 12-8. Can the Mariners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
