Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Highland's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

While Highland's win against Chesterton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Highland won by a run and slipped past Chesterton 11-10. Considering Highland's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jordan Boyd was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Gracie Waldron was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 10-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Highland has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Chesterton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland will take on Illiana Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chesterton, they will challenge Munster at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
