Basketball Game Preview: Jersey Panthers vs. Civic Memorial Eagles

Jersey is 0-10 against Civic Memorial since February of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Jersey Panthers will challenge the Civic Memorial Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Jersey is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Jersey turned things around against Gillespie on Monday. They took down the Miners 50-33.

Jersey found their leader in sophomore Neely Goetten, who went 8 for 13 en route to 16 points and seven boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Goetten has scored all season. Meredith Gray was another key player, putting up ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Civic Memorial was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 44-40 to Glenwood. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Jersey pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Civic Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-3 record this season.

Jersey came up short against Civic Memorial in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 60-47. Can Jersey avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
