Preview: Hardee Wildcats vs. Frostproof Bulldogs
The Hardee Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Frostproof Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hardee comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Hardee suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 42-21 walloping at the hands of Manatee. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hardee in their matchups with Manatee: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Hardee had strong showings from Rihanna Frederick, who scored ten points along with three steals, and Jazlynn Jones, who scored three points along with six rebounds and two blocks. That was a full 47.6% of Hardee's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Frostproof took a serious blow against Lakeland on Thursday, falling 43-12. Frostproof was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.
Frostproof's loss came about despite a quality game from Shalayjah Robey, who scored eight points.
Hardee bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.3 points per game. As for Frostproof, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Hardee might still be hurting after the 43-22 defeat they got from Frostproof when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Hardee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
