Midland Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Caleb Cruz and Reid Larson. Larson has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last five times he's played. Another thorn in Brook Hill's side was Coy Hayes, who made 14 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Regents took their matchup on Saturday with ease, bagging a 62-2 win over Southwest Christian School. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by 22 points or more this season.
Midland Christian better keep an eye on Jack Devine. He was instrumental in Regents' win, throwing for 244 yards and seven TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Devine has posted since back in August of 2024. Kade Millington did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 101 receiving yards.
One reason for the win was Regents' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Braylon Compton, Cole Knippa, and Max Raeder, who each picked up one sack apiece. Drew Novy got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Midland Christian's record is now 8-3. As for Regents, their record now sits at 11-0.
Midland Christian suffered a grim 46-23 defeat to Regents in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Devine, who threw for 188 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 112 yards and one score on only 13 carries. Now that the Mustangs know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
