Lawrence County is 2-8 against Johnson Central since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lawrence County Bulldogs will host the Johnson Central Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Lawrence County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Johnson Central likes a good challenge.

Lawrence County is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2024 on Friday. They put the hurt on Prestonsburg with a sharp 83-63 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Blackcats since February 22, 2022.

Meanwhile, Johnson Central suffered their biggest defeat since February 19, 2024 on Saturday. They were beaten by Lexington Catholic 70-42. The match marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Johnson Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Austin Slone posted 16 points and six rebounds. That was a full 38.1% of Johnson Central's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. Kyle Rose was another key player, putting up six points and nine boards.

Lawrence County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.6 points per game. As for Johnson Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
