Basketball Game Preview: Community Christian Cyclones vs. Trinity Christian Tigers

The Community Christian Cyclones and the Trinity Christian Tigers will face off at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Community Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while Trinity Christian will come in with three straight victories.

On Monday, Community Christian ended up a good deal behind New Bern Christian Academy and lost 45-27. While losing is never fun, the Cyclones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while New Bern Christian Academy are ranked 116th).

Meanwhile, Trinity Christian earned a 39-32 win over Eastern Christian HomeSchool on Monday.

Trinity Christian's win came from a few key players Community Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Macey Skinner, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards. What's more, she also racked up three steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Riley Burnham was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.

Trinity Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Trinity Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points per game. As for Community Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Community Christian was dealt a bruising 62-23 defeat at the hands of Trinity Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Community Christian, Breanna Perry (who went 5 for 11 en route to 20 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
